Awesome hotel-lite in Asakusa, not far from the station. Small room as usual in Tokyo, but cheap and really nice design.

The staff is very unfriendly, I understand a little bit Japanese and I could understand the Japanese family who works there speaking very bad about me. They don´t have education, they are rough very rough, they don`t know how to be polite.

We as a family of four had a excellent accomodation. Everything was neat and clean eventhough we had no bathroom or shower in our room, but the ones we used were well cleaned. We rent our towels and there was no problem at all.
Everything! Worth the price....cordial staff....location...cleanliness...we surely recommend this hotel to our friends

Clean, trendy hostel, friendly staff. Close to a bus stop that goes to Minamisenchu station, asakusa, and Ueno station. Has day rental bikes for 500yen, close to asakusa and Tokyo sky tree tower. Close to two convenient stores. Hot shower is good.
No wifi in the room, only at the front lobby close to the Mac computers. Location is a bit hard to find the first time and a bit further from the central Tokyo, takes about 1 hour commute to Shinjuku. Its 20 minute walk from Minamisenchu station. You have to cross the bridge to get to the other side. It's more convenient to take bus from ueno stiation to the hostel, get off at the stop before minamisenchu station stop.

low price , trendy design, vintage style, kind staff,
far from downtown, very small space room (but it's normal characteristic of japanese hotel)

The hotel is nice and clean. It seems new. Friendly staff. It is a few minutes away from Minami Senju station, and about 20mn from Asakusa Temple walking. We also walked back from Skytree tower one night in about 30mn.
There is wifi available but it's only possible to use with a Japanese phone company account, as in most cafes in Tokyo, including Starbucks or McDonalds. Free wifi isn't offered. Otherwise, there is a LAN cable in the room for computers.

Good value for money- clean and nice place to stay. If u want to save some cash on accomondation when travelling like i do then this is a good place. Fridge in room which is good to have breakfast ect in. Stayed there for 15 days in total and didnt mind the small room since we only slept there.
The location isnt the best but to get more central then u need to spend alot more cash then 5000 Yen/night.

I like that the Kangaroo hotel is situated in a small Japanese neighborhood. It is within easy walking distance to 3 lines of transport (metro, express, and jr trains) that can deliver you to most any part of the city in good time. The staff all speak english, and the general area has a great feel to it with tables, free to use mac computers, and eclectic international music playing. They have a range of rooms. We stayed in their 'tatami' room and their 'bunk bed' style room. If you have huge luggage then you may want to consider the spaces to put luggage in the room are minimal and you'll most likely have a hard time with it. The place is clean with shared sinks, showers, and bathrooms. It's a cool experience, and the staff is there to help with any questions. This place was a great find.
They do not offer full size towels, but face towels. Not a huge deal for us, but other guests seemed to have issue with it. Not huge space for luggage, but that is not unique among Japanese hotels. Just a heads up for those who need more space / amenities.

Nice hotel which was very clean and the staff were friendly. Small but nice futon room.
The hotel is a few subway stops out from main Tokyo loop and there wasn't much around including not any places to eat. Also bit of a walk from the train station (although this may not be such concern if weather was not as hot as when we visited).

The place is really clean and comfortable. People who work there were completelly helpful and kind. You will find everything you would need except cups, they have a microwave and a place to eat but they do not have any dish!!! Take it into account if you expect to have some tea before leaving or if you want to take lunch or dinner in the hotel.
